I wouldn't go here for food. The location is nice since it's right across from the beach. And I guess if you're more into a nice casual bar setting then this would be it. I ordered the calamari and the server said it's one of the best! I took her recommendation and got it. It's very greasy and I would just say it's ok if you're hungry. We then proceeded to order a meal to share. Finally decided on the Grouper Reuben. Again the server said it's a favorite there. When it arrived I took a bite and noticed it was rather fishy and I kept smelling it to make sure it was fresh. I just couldn't eat it after that first bite. My friend whom I shared it with couldn't eat hers either. We ate the side of fries and onion rings and left the grouper pretty much untouched. When the waitress came back I mentioned it to her that it was bad and we couldn't eat it. So needless to say, I was rather disappointed that we still had to pay for something we couldn't eat because it was bad. In my experience of being a restaurant manager, this is something that could have been fixed and addressed by a manager. They should of offered us something else on the menu or taken it off the bill. Very disappointed to say the least. I rather go to Salt Life right next door for a much better meal.

I give 'em a three and a half. The wife and I came here for Sunday lunch, at the recommendation of our motel's desk clerk. She hand-wrote us a 10% off coupon. The coupon worked. We suspect she gets a kickback, because the restaurant didn't look great, and wasn't busy. However, our waitress was nice and efficient. Our Crab Cakes were very good. This was our first meal in town.

Fun trivia, older crowd, friendly staff, but the place could use a makeover. I ordered the blackened chicken sandwich topped with avocados, bacon, and Swiss cheese with a salad and vegetables, it was decent, but the chicken was a bit dry and the avocados were hard (definitely not ripe yet). A friend got the fish tacos and said it was pretty salty. Fries were crispy and yummy though. Another friend ordered the fresh catch of the day which was swordfish. He loved it and said it was cooked perfectly. We stayed afterwards for a few drinks and the crowd was younger and pretty fun. The bartenders are super friendly.

Great food for a reasonable price! We went for dinner on our first night in town. We aren't much for the bar scene we noticed downstairs (it was Sunday football central). We opted to sit outside on the upstairs deck to enjoy the awesome Atlantic Ocean view. On the recommendation of our waitress, I ordered the chicken quesadilla and was not disappointed! The chicken was seasoned beautifully and the portion was huge! My husband ordered the catch of the day with steamed veggies and beans/rice. He loved every bite and inhaled it! My only complaint is that the sweet tea wasn't all that sweet . We will definitely adding this place to our list of stops next time we are in town!

This was recommended by a friend. Online menu sounded good. Disappointed with steamed clams. Very small and dry. Over seasoned. Fried shrimp OK. Nothing special. Good service, very friendly. Also had catch of the day. Grilled mahi mahi. Again just OK. Not bad, but not great. Doubt we'd come again for dinner, maybe for beers and outside seating.

Memorial Day at the restaurant was properly started with the place setting. We ordered a draft beer which was much appreciated after a day at the beach. The crab cakes with a mustard sauce were large and full of flavor. A grouper Reuben sandwich was split between the two of us. This was a providential decision because the fish portion was large. Onion rings were substituted for the French fries. Good choice. The server was timely and efficient. The breeze onto the second floor deck and interior seating was useful for a hot day. An excellent view out of the beach sky. The restaurant shows some wear and tear. A good place to visit on another day.

Run down place but figured we'd give it a try after not eating all afternoon. The waitress was really nice but the drinks and food were not at all. I had a Pepsi & my bf had a ginger ale and they both had the worst/weirdest taste ever. I got cold crab cakes that were Pretty mushy but had decent taste. My bf liked his steak sandwich. Worst part of the my day was wasting money there :-(

Poor service, ate calamari , shrimp, and fried pickles. If you love garlic get the calamari that is all you will taste. Shrimp had no flavor all the spice was caked on the outside. The fried pickles were the only good part of the visit. Service was slow.

Yeah should have guessed from walking in this place that it wouldn't be so great However I usually like to try things out Coulda been a dive with good food To bad it wasn't Atmosphere was local dive at best You could tell a few tourists happen to stumble in, but mostly seemed like people who live around They had trivia going on downstairs and it looked like a nursing home bingo night Service was good I will give that to them the lady that waited on us was pleasant and quick Not her fault the place needs a revamp So for the food Yeah I've had better at IHOP Spinach dip was like queso they made from velveeta and threw some spinach in it And not a lot either Calamari obviously came from a box in the freezer and tasted like 20 other things in the fryer I had the fresh catch sandwich and it was ok Everyone I was with had fish and we all didn't hate it So in that aspect they did ok Over all I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone unless you are there for the drinks which I didn't have but it seemed like everyone else was having my share

It's an ok place to go to but not.my .first choice but rather a last restort. There are restaurants In the area that are newer and have better service and food.

Food better than I expected ! place is getting kinda run down, but this is a beach place, and they hop at night ! Great place for night life, drinks, and good food !

Service was a little slow at first but once we got going, the food was excellent and at a very fair price. The facility did have an odor and needed modernized but once complete, they will do exceptionally well based on our experience

We used to love this place. Great food, great view from the outside deck. However, this year we were VERY disappointed. Although the food was good the service was well below expectations. Our server seemed extremely unhappy to be there. We tried to lighten her mood a bit and she said she was too hot and tired. Getting information about Happy Hour, specials, etc. was like pulling teeth. Things that usually should come standard, without asking seemed like an imposition to her. Looked around and many other tables seemed to have similar issues. Only one server seemed to be happy to be there and had a smile on his face. I'd say 4 stars for food, 1/2 star for service. After yearly visits in the past we will NOT be returning.

I had the Shrimp Prima Vera, I thought it was pretty tasteless. It sounded so good on the menu. My side salad was good. My husband had the Grouper Blacked and he loved it. I don 't know if I would go back and try it again.

After driving thru the madness of St. Augustine we were looking for somewhere to get a late lunch and a cocktail or 2 when we stumbled upon Panama Hatties. What attracted us was the deck up above. Our server was fantastic...the food however was okay, not great, not bad, just okay. I should also mention that it was a cool breezy day and within 15 minutes of being served our food was cold. Cold burgers and fish and chips are not exactly tasty. I have to also mention that it is just ridiculous when they bring you your side item (coleslaw) in a little plastic cup that a fork barely fits in! All in all we will probably return sometime this summer to give it another shot. Again, excellent service and a fair price for the food.

This place has the best phillie cheese steak that I have ever had. And they are consistent, because I had one in about 07 and just had my second this weekend and it was still just as good. They get a good char going on the meat so you get lots of flavor. Lots of meat, onions, peppers and cheese. Really good roll too, soft and chewy but holds up to the meat. Fried pickle chips for an appetizer was enough for probably 6-8 people (so my wife and I hardly made a dent). This is a fun beach place with good food, and good prices. We have no complaints. caught trivia on Friday night and the place was full and everyone was having lots of fun. And did I say the cheese steak was awesome!?

I went to Flagler College all 4 years. This place was great freshman year, but after that I would just get more and more frustrated every time I went. If I had a dollar for every time somebody spilt a drink on me there I could have bought the whole bar drinks. It's just littered with wasted underage college kids who don't know how to handle themselves in public. No matter where you go you have to yell just to have a conversation. I would avoid this place like the plague.

Ugh, the food was alright and not expensive really but the owner/manager woman with blonde hair was really rude. We asked to move tables because there was a lady smoking and it was blowing right at us and she made it seem like we were such a hassel for her! She didn't even apologize when I told her the smoke had been blowing on our 3 month old baby. After the move, our waitress pretty much ignored us. Very dissappinted.

This place caters to two crowds. People wanting a good bite to eat on the beach and people who want to get drunk at night. I think the food is great! I had a friend shrimp basket and it was fresh! Not the frozen garbage. Fries were really good too! My gf had the fish of the day and it tasted great!

Food here was just soso. Pulled pork was very dry, hot wings came very dry with no spiciness, and burgers were dry and they are extremely stingy with toppings. We asked for hot sauce for the wings and were charged additionally for each container. Out of six of us, no one was happy with their meal. We will not return.

Our search for Minorcan chowder in St. Augustine results: best flavor, great consistency, recognizable delicious ingredients. Grouper Reuben Sandwich is a tasty alternative to other local fish choices. Not fans of overly loud live music; if the amps were turned down a bit, the sound of "Bones" was pretty good. Our waitress is a joy! Good food, great, quick service. Good spicy chowder on a cold, windy night. Also had calamari-- nice addition was garlic, pepperonci, and marinara sauce. A dive, bar, and great food.

During the day it may be a tiki tourist trap to grab a burger or some seafood across the street from the pier and the beach, but at night the local college owns this place (I know, I went to Flagler). With drink specials Mon-Fri (quarter beers, $5 all you can drink sink or swim, flip-cup night, etc) be prepared for big crowds, young college kids and who all know each other, dancing and debauchery. There is a bar downstairs with a live band and tv's for a more chill atmosphere, and another bar with a DJ, a dance floor and large outdoor deck upstairs. If you're looking for college partying, this place is one of the main places to go in St. Augustine. If not, head downtown for a classier and more adult night out.

We've eaten there 4-5 times during vists over the last 2 years. Always good. Typical beach bar restaurant type place. We went last Wendnesday for the low country boil, all you can eat special. It was very good, needed a little more spice for my taste, but for most would have been fine. I got a huge bowl of steamed mussels, clams, shrimp, corn, and potatoes; which was very good, followed by a second bowl. Cost $24 but well worth it with a couple of beers. Wife had a good burger for about $8. We'll be back next year!

Thug-life staff stole my credit card number as well as 2 of my friends. Feel free to message me for details. If the management happens to read this - I forgot my usual credit card so I used a card that I hadn't charged with in months to pay my tab and then got a call from American Express 2 days later for some odd charges a few miles away. ONLY TIME I USED IT WAS AT PH - so don't try to dispute this. I hope your trashy bar burns to the ground.

Ahhhh yes, Panama Hatties. Now keep in mind, as I write this review, I am writing based on the merits of the night club aspect only, as I have not eaten the food, or visited during the daytime. Panama Hatties can somewhat be lumped in with Oasis and Sunset Grille, as being restaurants / night clubs / bars on the island next to the beach, and they all seem to be "world famous" or have "award winning" this. Any of the local hotels or sightseeing areas will have their business cards stapled to menus with all their awards listed on it, and usually a coupon for a certain percent off, or free t-shirt, or SOMETHING to get you to come eat there. After spending the majority of my Saturday night drinking and relaxing at Sunset Grille, I decided to mosey on over to Panama Hatties to see what was happening there. TERRIBLE decision. $5.00 cover charge to even get into the place- but there was a live band playing that night, so I decided it would be worth it. The place was PACKED with a nice mix of college douchebags, trashy college sluts, 45 year old men trying WAY to hard to nail the trashy college sluts, and dickhead security. Sounds like fun, right? There was a group of guys who were sitting together at a table, and it was painfully obvious that they were like me, instantly regretting coming here, and dying to go somewhere else. Went to the bar with my girl, and waited 5 minutes to get served, even though we were the only ones waiting to get a drink. Tuff stuff behind the bar couldn't have been more neglectful or rude, but thankfully at least gave us our beers, which on the bright side- only $2.50 for a draft- not bad. The band started playing at that point... Terrible. Unbelievably loud, couldn't understand the singer, and worst of all, singing their own songs... If you're playing a night club, play songs people want to dance to, save your own emo garbage for an actual concert venue. I couldn't stand being in the cramped area downstairs, so we decided to move upstairs in the outdoor patio area. Now this area was actually not all bad- plenty of seating available, comfortable beach chairs at tables, a few picnic tables, and lots of seats at a bar area inside. There was a DJ playing some hip hop and dance songs, although I noticed noone was dancing, mainly everyone was chilling, relaxing with their drinks, and trying to stay away from the mess going on downstairs. The bathrooms were an absolute mess, and are just asking for someone to get beat up and mugged. I don't really enjoy having to look over my shoulder when I'm taking care of my business. My girl and I finished are beers, and decided to get the hell out of there. We actually stopped at a convenience store on the way back to our hotel room to buy more beers, and we drank in the room watching food network. A much more enjoyable evening than drinking at PH. I don't know what type of people frequent this place - maybe I went on a bad night? But judging from the other reviews here on Yelp, not likely. Avoid this place.

I sat down and waited for 20 minutes to be acknowledged and ordered drinks. 30 minutes later no food no drinks and the table that walked in behind us was on drink number two and diggin into dinner. Is this a joke? We got up to walk out and the manager/host asked I we were ok. No honey you looked at us sitting for 50 minutes and didn't do a thing, no apology, no offer of comped drinks, not even an im sorry. This place should not still be in business.

One of my favorite spots at the Beach! Great deck, great drinks, and wonderful service. They make us feel like they are thrilled to see us each time we come. We enjoy the All you Can Eat Crab legs on Wednesday nights. They are very meaty legs and they keep them coming as needed! We also love their ribs! They are some of the best ribs anywhere! They have All You Can Eat Ribs on Thursday night, but I can't imagine how anyone could eat anymore than what comes with the menu order. My husband and I actually share the normal order and still walk away stuffed! We have tried many items on the menu and haven't had a bad one. The views from the deck are the best around and remind you of the joys of beach life!

Panama Hattie's is that unique blend of plastic, gimmicky tourist draw and TRASHY AS FUCK. I guess it's accurate to say it's a "locals scene", but the locals that go here are, ugh, how can I put this... well, the other locals are glad it's on the Island, because we sure as hell don't want those locals over here. To put it another way, Panama Hattie's makes The Giggling Gator look classy. The drinks are cheap. That much can be said for the benefit of Panama Hattie's. They might be almost as cheap as the girls; it's difficult to say, really. The food is stomachable, but for seven dollars and up you could save a few bucks by just microwaving something yourself at home. This might also be the closest you ever get to a Safari attraction in St. Augustine, because oh boy there's a whole lot of leopard-print, in all colors of the rainbow, often complimented by cheetah, zebra or other prints, usually topped off by pleather and/or clear heels. If you are in town for a few days and you're into bartering, you might well be able to swap STDs with one of the creatures that bump and grind in the night at Panama Hattie's. Otherwise, avoid it like the plague: it's probably just about as likely to get you sick.

I was creeped out when my boyfriend said there was a cockroach on the bar and my bahama mama lacked alcohol so that was it for me and this beach bar.

We took our family here for lunch, so anything concerning the after hours activities, I cannot comment on. The restaurant portion is set in an irish pub atmosphere next to a full bar. The building is older and it shows, but the food was fantastic. It's exactly what I needed after driving for hours. I'm giving it three stars, the food made me drool, but the atmosphere made me flinch.

Dancing, hot chicas, and strong drinks. If you're looking for the most consistent party in St. Augustine, then this is your place. It is a locals spot, so the tourists might enjoy something downtown. The food is good if not overpriced. The Burgers are a good value ($7-9). There is dancing upstairs, live music downstairs, hot chicks all over, and strong drinks. Cougar hunters stay downstairs.
